Have been talking about writing a story for comics for a long time… so what am I waiting for? Having the opportunity to rest at home today, I spent a couple of hours writing and sketching. Here’s a glimpse to what I have been up to.

I would very much like to update this blog with new stuff not concerning my work but I guess I am pretty much too occupied with finishing up my comic pages for an anthology. Hopefully I can finish it in time for more editing by the end of the year which is roughly in about 2-3 weeks time. I have not worked so furiously before. Now that I feel the crunch I am kinda enjoying it. Anyway here’s a panel that I have done this week — it is a background depicting the streets in Bangkok.

So far I have been liking the look and feel established here though it is taking too much work and too tedious to be used in comic pages. Well I love to challenge myself all the time… and this is the challenge — to do something that I have not done before.

Blog Back Online and new artwork

It seems that my blog is back online. Thanks to all the hours put in yesterday to resolve the issue of being listed as an attack site. It is a good thing it is not lasting for too long because there will be people reviewing my portfolio and I do not want to disappoint them. Here’s a quick sketch I did among all the other sketches i tried to make yesterday amidst the chaos!

I drew it with a brush pen and a Faber Castell PITT Marker (S), scanned it in and painted digitally with Photoshop.

Other than that, I am glad that I upgraded WordPress. Now it is easier to edit post, change settings and upload pictures. Cool!! =)

Baboon Character with rock hairstyle

I don’t know how I came up with this, but having a creature with such punk rock hairstyle tickles me. And how did I come up with such a strange hairstyle on a baboon creature looking half like a human? Well I have my source.

Old Tank Illustration

Found a nice reference from the Internet of a old tank designed and built most probably during the first World War. I cannot help it but drew the whole damn thing in my style mimicking a little what Miyazaki would do too in his drawings and sketches or war machines. I bought 2 of such books. They are all in Japanese and I was praying that someone would translate these to English so I can read them. It was several years ago when I prayed this but my prayer wasn’t answered till now. Very sad. I left the books back in Singapore and I really missed them. So here I painted the line drawing in Painter so I could get a watercolor look.

Playing with scratchboard style of coloring an illustration. I drew with a ball point pen, scanned and painted in Photoshop with a simple brush with no opacity and so on. An illustration I did for a German game mod website while I was making the sub-machine gun (MP40) in Maya (3D) for them. I kinda like this way of drawing just like Guy Davis does. Only difference is he is using a dip pen that gives some variation to the thickness of the lines.
