It’s no big deal to many veteran Maya modeler, but to me modeling a volleyball is an eye opening, not pertaining to using of Maya, but understanding the structure and design of a volleyball. Not until now, I do not know that a volley ball is actually made of 6 equal identical sides pieced together. The shapes match on all sides so no matter how you rotate them, they still match at their sides. “It’s like taking a leather cube and pump it up into a ball” explained my very perceptive colleague. I made one following a tutorial I found on 3dtotal.com. Amazingly simple. it took me like 20 mins to complete one.
